RHBA-2010:0605 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
xorg-x11-drv-i810 bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
An updated xorg-x11-drv-i810 package that fixes various bugs is now available.
Description
xorg-x11-drv-i810 is an Intel integrated graphics video driver for the X.Org
implementation of the X Window System.
Note: This package provides two drivers, "i810" and "intel". The i810 driver is
supported for i8xx series chips, up to and including i865. The intel driver is
supported for all i915 and later chips.
This updated package fixes the following bugs:
- due to an error in the CRT detect code in the driver, when the
xorg-x11-drv-i810 package was updated, the X server may have failed to boot,
returning the following error message:
Caught signal 11. Server aborting
This has been resolved, and the X Window System now boots as expected.
(BZ#567535)
- previously, using the xrandr command to change the screen resolution of a
video device under the Intel Q43/Q45 chipset may have failed. As a result, an
attempt to change the resolution again could cause the screen to get blank and
go out of sync. With this update, this error has been fixed, and changing the
screen resolution no longer causes the screen to get out of sync. (BZ#543811)
All xorg-x11-drv-i810 users should upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves these issues.
