RHBA-2010:0600 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
openais bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
An updated openais package that fixes various bugs is now available for Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 5.
Description
The Application Interface Specification (AIS) is an API and a set of policies
for developing applications that maintain services during faults. The OpenAIS
Standards Based Cluster Framework is an OSI-certified implementation of the
Service Availability Forum AIS. The openais package contains the openais
executable, OpenAIS service handlers, default configuration files, and an init
script.
This updated openais package provides fixes for the following bugs:
- when openais was stopped, in some rare occasions it would freeze because of
the use of non-async-signal-safe code inside a signal handler. With this update,
openais no longer hangs and works as expected. (BZ#581604)
- originating significant (206 or more) message counts in the recovery state
resulted in the failure of the totem protocol and a failure of the recovery
process. With this update, the number of messages that can be generated was
increased, thus, the process of recovery finishes as expected. (BZ#584560)
- in high loss networks, all nodes in a cluster experienced a buffer overflow
and aborted when a threshold of unprocessed or not transmitted packets was
reached. With this update, even when a significant number of packets is
unprocessed or not transmitted, all nodes in the cluster work as expected and do
not abort. (BZ#601085)
- previously, CPG API returned the wrong results when a cluster component failed
that was using openais. With this update, the correct results are returned.
All users of OpenAIS are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves these issues.
