Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
An updated spacewalk-report package which fixes an issue with reported CPU
count is now available. Note re package name: Spacewalk is the upstream
project from which Red Hat Network Satellite derives.
Description
Red Hat Network Satellite is a systems management tool for Linux-based
infrastructures. It allows for the provisioning, remote management and
monitoring of multiple Linux deployments with a single, centralized tool.
The spacewalk-reports package provides the spacewalk-report command which
produces reports about various entities in the Satellite server.
This update addresses the following issue:
- spacewalk-reports used the wrong variable for reporting CPU numbers and,
consequently, reported registered systems as having only one CPU regardless
of the actual number of CPUs in a system. With this update,
spacewalk-reports uses the correct variable and the reported CPUs number
accurately reflects the number of CPUs in a registerd system. (BZ#588277)
All Red Hat Network Satellite users should install this updated package
which addresses this problem.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
To update all RPMs for your particular architecture, run:
rpm -Fvh [filenames]
where [filenames] is a list of the RPMs you wish to upgrade. Only those
RPMs which are currently installed will be updated. Those RPMs which are
not installed but included in the list will not be updated. Note that you
can also use wildcards (*.rpm) if your current directory *only* contains
the
desired RPMs.
Please note that this update is also available via Red Hat Network. Many
people find this an easier way to apply updates. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with one of the following commands:
On Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 AS, run:
up2date
On Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Server, run:
yum update
This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
