RHBA-2009:0948 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
comps bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
An updated comps package that fixes various bugs is now available for Red
Hat Enterprise Linux 4.8.
Description
The comps package contains file and header lists for use by
system-config-packages.
This updated comps package includes fixes for the following bugs:
- on the 64-bit PowerPC architecture, attempting to activate an LVM mirror
with snapshot-monitoring enabled (in the lvm.conf configuration file)
resulted in the following error messages:
libdevmapper-event-lvm2snapshot.so dlopen failed:
libdevmapper-event-lvm2snapshot.so: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory
This indicated that the volumes could not be monitored because LVM was
unable to locate the shared libraries used to provide the monitoring
capabilities. Users of 64-bit PowerPC systems are advised to install the
64-bit versions of the LVM packages using the following command:
yum install lvm.ppc64
Installing the 64-bit PowerPC lvm packages will resolve any "dlopen failed"
error messages and enable the correct monitoring of LVM mirrors and
snapshots. Also, with this updated comps package, "lvm2" has been added to
the ppc64-compat-libs group. (BZ#455303)
- the release line of the .discinfo file now lists the minor release, such
as "Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.8". (BZ#459403)
- due to incompatibilities caused by recent license changes, the JRockit
packages have been removed from the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 distribution
and associated channels. (BZ#475654, 475653)
- the fonts-chinese-zysong packae, which contains the Zysong font for the
Chinese language, has been added to the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Extras
channel. (BZ#480949)
- in the comps-rhel4-u8.xml file, the package name "vim-X11" contained a
typo. (BZ#481737)
- the libmthca-devel and libehca-devel package names were incorrectly
listed in the comps-rhel4-u8.xml file, and have therefore been removed.
Note that installing the libibverbs-devel package will install the header
files for individual InfiniBand™ drivers. (BZ#481742)
All users of comps are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves these issues.
