Updated fonts-indic packages that fix several bugs and add enhancements
are available now.

Description

The fonts-indic packages contain fonts for nine Indian scripts: Devanagari
(Hindi), Tamil, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Malayalam, Oriya, Kannada and
Telugu.

These updated packages fix the following bugs:

• the loop of the Devanagari vowel, matra -- U+093f -- rendered incorrectly

due to the varied width of some consonants and conjuncts. Typically this
occured where there were double consonants, the first of which was a
half-sound. This has been fixed by correcting the contextual substitutions
that allow the loop of the matra to be applied to the correct consonant,
regardless of the width of the preceding consonant.

• the Telugu (te_IN) font size used in the anaconda network screen was

disproportionate to the English font used. This caused some of the
interface elements to overlap. The Telugu font size in anaconda was reduced
and the interface now renders correctly.

• the Devanagari Grave Accent glyph -- U+0953 -- was incorrectly displayed

as two vertical strokes above the character it was applied to. In this
update, the fonts-bengali package has been changed to display the glyph
correctly, as a single downward slanting grave accent.

• the glyph for the Bengali character -- U+09FA -- was incorrectly

positioned on the same line as the character that follows it. In this
updated package, the character is now positioned correctly: above the
consonant or vowel that follows it.

• when using the Malayalam language, the conjunct of sa + chandrakkala +

rra was incorrectly rendered by omitting the chandrakkala -- U+0D4D -- and
appending the rra character -- U+0D31 -- below the sa character -- U+0D38

• -. In the updated fonts-malayalam package, this conjuct now renders

correctly.

• Along with the above bug fixes, few enhancements were done for Hindi font

such as refined positioning for vowel signs.

All users using the affected languages are advised to upgrade to these
updated packages, which resolve these issues and add this enhancement.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied.
