RHBA-2008:0293 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
sysstat bug fix and enhancement update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
An updated sysstat package that addresses several bugs and adds two
enhancements is now available.
Description
The sysstat package provides the sar and iostat commands. These commands
enable system monitoring of disk, network, and other I/O activity.
Bugs fixed in this updated package include:
- calling iostat with the '-n' option would eventually lead to iostat
failing due to too many open file descriptors.
- instead of succeeding quietly, the sar command would issue a "realloc:
Success" message.
- the hot plug CPU support for syssat, which is also an enhancement in this
updated package, no longer assumes that CPU0 cannot be disabled.
- the debuginfo package now contains the proper data files.
In addition, the following enhancements have been added:
- the iostat command now has a new option, '-n', which displays the
registered device names for Device-mapper devices, such as
"VolGroup00-LogVol00" instead of simply "dm-0".
- the sysstat package has been upgraded to version 7.0.2, which has hot
plug CPU support.
All users of sysstat are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which
applies these fixes and adds these enhancements.
