RHBA-2007:0727 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
sysstat bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated sysstat packages that address several bugs and add an enhancement
are now available.
Description
The sysstat package provides the sar and iostat commands. These commands
enable system monitoring of disk, network, and other I/O activity.
This update applies the following fixes:
- CPU utilization statistics are now correctly reported when the counter
used for utilization overflows. The previous version displayed the wrong
value when overflow happened.
- the find command within sa2 now works with symlinked directories and sa2
now removes old sar files as expected. The previous version couldn't find
directories symlinked to /var/log/sa. Consequently, the command did not
remove old sar files if sar wrote its log files to a directory symlinked to
/var/log/sa.
- the debuginfo package contains proper data files now.
- the "sar -b" command option reports transfers per second (tps) again. The
previous version did not return any data.
- "sar -r" output has been fixed. In the previous version the kbmemfree
value could overflow.
As well, the following enhancement has been added:
- the iostat command now has a new option, '-n', which shows the nfs
per-mount performance.
All users of sysstat should upgrade to these updated packages, which apply
these fixes and add this option.
