An updated libxml2 package that fixes various bugs is now available.

Description

The libxml2 library lets you manipulate XML files. It includes support
to read, modify, and write XML and HTML files. It has DTD support,
including parsing and validation, even with complex DTDs. The output
can be a simple SAX stream or an in-memory DOM like representation. In
this case you can use the built-in XPath and XPointer implementation
to select subnodes or ranges. A flexible Input/Output mechanism is
available, with existing HTTP and FTP modules and combined to an URI
library.

This update fixes 2 problems:

• PHP4 can use libxml2 for XML parsing and if DTD validation was

required, parsing errors could lead to a crash.

• The package would not rebuild when the gcc toolchain had been

updated.

Users should upgrade to this updated package, which resolves these issues.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

This update is available via Red Hat Network. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:

up2date

This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
