Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated ntp packages that fix several bugs are now available.
Description
The Network Time Protocol (NTP) is used to synchronize a computer's time
with a referenced time source.
The following issues have been addressed in this update:
- The ntpdate command did not work with multicast address.
- The ntp daemon did not recover from time offsets larger than 0.5s when -x
option was used.
- The ntp daemon produced floating-point assist fault messages on the ia64
architecture.
- The ntptrace man page listed options not supported by
the command.
Users of ntp are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which
resolve these issues.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
This update is available via Red Hat Network. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:
up2date
This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
