RHBA-2007:0098 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
autofs bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
An updated autofs package that fixes a bug with multi-mounts is now available.
Description
autofs is a tool for automatically mounting and unmounting filesystems.
During an expire, if the last multi-mount component to be checked
for expiry does not have a mount associated with it while other
components do, autofs erroneously believes it is not busy and can
be expired. This can cause a partial expire of the the multi-mount
which leads to the entry becoming unresponsive to further requests.
Restarting autofs clears the problem temporarily.
Automount maps that do not contain multi-mount entries are not
affected by this bug. The inbuilt "-hosts" map is treated as a
multi-mount map internally and so will exhibit this problem.
Users should upgrade to these packages, which resolve the issue.
