RHBA-2006:0453 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
glibc bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
Updated glibc packages that address several bugs are now available.
Description
The GNU libc packages (known as glibc) contain the standard C libraries
used by applications.
This erratum applies the following fixes in the GNU C Library:
- added a trigger script in glibc-common that automatically updates
/etc/localtime on tzdata updates
- fixed: nscd crashed when killed with SIGHUP signal (for example, through
service nscd reload)
- nscd only caches hosts requests as queried by the user, and does
not include CNAMEs and reverse mappings.
- added auto-propagate option to nscd.conf; when set to no, nscd will not
cache reverse mappings for password and group databases
- added various NIS+ fixes
All users of glibc should upgrade to these updated packages, which apply
these fixes.
