RHBA-2005:226 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
libtiff bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
Updated libtiff packages that bring the libtiff versions of Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 2.1 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 into sync are now
available.
Description
The libtiff package contains a library of functions for manipulating TIFF
(Tagged Image File Format) image format files. TIFF is a widely used file
format for bitmapped images. TIFF files usually end in the .tif extension
and they are often quite large.
The libtiff package should be installed if you need to manipulate TIFF
format image files.
Updating the libtiff version in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1 to 3.5.7
reduces the overhead of future security fixes and allows users to change
several packages (tetex, kfax) to use the system libtiff instead of their
own copy.
All users libtiff should upgrade to these updated packages, which resolve
this issue.
