RHBA-2004:503 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
Updated sysstat package
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
An updated sysstat package that fixes various bugs is now available.
[Updated 31 January 2005]
New packages are available that fix a packaging issue with the Interactive
System Activity Grapher (isag).
Description
The sysstat package provides the sar and iostat commands. These commands
enable system monitoring of disk, network, and other I/O activity.
The following bugs have been addressed:
- A file handle leakage in iostat
- A missing %iowait in iostat
- The "sar -d" and "sar -b" commands
- Erroneous data in several fields of iostat output
- The number of days to keep accounting files is now tunable
- Improved reporting of statistics from the sar command for cciss devices
- both sysstat and sysstat-isag provided /usr/bin/isag
Note: This update will provide a version of sar that *cannot* read prior
daily accounting files. Users should generate and store backup reports
before installing this update.
All users of sysstat should upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves these issues.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released
errata relevant to your system have been applied. Use Red Hat
