RHBA-2004:195 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
Updated anaconda and other installer related packages available
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
Multiple bugfixes for the Red Hat Enterprise Linux installation program
(anaconda) and surrounding packages are now available.
Description
Anaconda is the installation program used to install Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
The redhat-config-packages utility program makes it possible to install RPM
packages in an easy-to-use graphical environment.
The rhpl package contains Python code used by programs in Red Hat Linux.
Bug fixes include:
- Support for Intel EM64T systems
- Fixes for IUCV networking adapters on s/390 and zSeries systems
- Increase amount of time we wait for network controllers to establish a link
- Support for the ipr driver on iSeries and pSeries systems
- Include more drivers on boot images
- Fallback to the vesa driver for unknown graphics adapters on x86_64
NOTE: These updates generally only apply to a fresh installation of Red Hat
Enterprise Linux via the ISO images available from Red Hat Network.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
To update all RPMs for your particular architecture, run:
rpm -Fvh [filenames]
where [filenames] is a list of the RPMs you wish to upgrade. Only those
RPMs which are currently installed will be updated. Those RPMs which are
not installed but included in the list will not be updated. Note that you
can also use wildcards (*.rpm) if your current directory *only* contains the
desired RPMs.
Please note that this update is also available via Red Hat Network. Many
people find this an easier way to apply updates. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:
up2date
This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
