StarSQL for Java is a Type 4 JDBC driver (Direct-to-Database Pure Java), providing fast, direct access to IBM DB2 relational databases from any Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) compliant application. StarSQL for Java provides support for Version 3.0 of the JDBC standard - including J2EE support, LOB (large object) data, encrypted password support, connection pooling, and Two-Phase Commit (2PC) JTA-type transactions. The product implements native DRDA protocol over direct TCP-IP connections to the entire range of IBM DB2 platforms - without requiring any host software and runs on any platform supporting the Java Runtime Environment (JRE), v1.3.1 and higher.
