The Ulticom Diameter Signaling Controller (DSC) addresses the interoperability, high availability, routing and scaling challenges in the LTE and IMS Diameter core network. It allows Mobile Network Operators to grow their network according to demand and provides a sophisticated scripting environment to address special routing needs and/or solve interoperability challenges. Mobile data traffic is booming, in large part due to the influx of IP-ready devices like smart phone, e-readers and tablets. As a result, Mobile Network Operators are moving to all IP networks like Long Term Evolution (LTE) and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) to provide the necessary bandwidth to support the continuously increasing demand placed on the network. The LTE and IMS network as specified by 3GPP makes extensive use of the Diameter protocol in key areas like policy control, converged charging, authentication, and subscriber data management, making Diameter the lynchpin for many subscriber services.
