The 2nd Derivative Information Portal is a Pervasive Information System giving company executives and sales force a dashboard view into their business. It is a real time reporting application that presents key business metrics in a single, easy-to-use screen with drill down to the details behind each number. The Information Portal is a finished application and not a tool. Information Portal is a web application used for real time key business indicators presented in a centralized web browser with drill down capabilities, Originally, written in 2000 in Net.Data on the iSeries for executives making regular trips internationally and around the country who needed real time information on the financials, inventory and sales. Multiple spreadsheets, and report writers made it difficult to get everyone on the same page as the traveling executive. Rewritten to Java in 2003, it has had nearly constant upgrades, and additions over the years. Soon to be released to the Open Source Community, hopefully in early 2008 as soon as we can make it more generic. This is not a report writer and not quite a dashboard and does required significant understanding of the underlying transaction system to install properly. It has become the real time reporting vehicle for all other 2D portals and can be especially effective for companies who need to have everyone on the same page on a real time basis. Currently we have interfaces to VAI System 2000, DMAS, JD Edwards World, and Second Derivative. Information Portal is a web application based on Open Source technologies. Information Portal is designed for sustainable modification and constant JSP changes. It is an excellent option for Companies that cannot change their back-end system, but need a dynamic web front end for their information. Information Portal is designed to sit above your legacy transaction and warehouse systems then deliver consistent real time information (or as real time as the existing legacy systems are...) with security to any browser based PC, any where in the world over the internet.
