StorageIM is the industry’s first management application for CIM/WBEM management servers built from the ground up on the SMI-S industry standard interface for storage management. StorageIM also efficiently leverages existing open source infrastructure such as Quartz, Hibernate and MySQL as well as being an open source community based development effort in its own right. As a result StorageIM supports HBAs, Arrays, Virtualizers, Switches, and Tape Libraries across vendor’s product lines with a high degree of interoperability and reliability. StorageIM uses the highly scalable xIM architecture as its core and thus, can be rapidly expanded with new capabilities. StorageIM provides powerful management for the performance and scalability of SMI-S based systems. The monitoring daemons run intermittent checks on services you specify using "plug-ins" which return status information. Current status information, historical logs, and reports can all be accessed via any web browser. Since StorageIM design highly leverages the software resources of the open source community as well as industry standards like SMI-S it is designed to be a nucleus for the evolution of storage management technology for the IT vendor community.
