IBM Maximo Archiving Adapter for Optim Data Growth Solution

IBM® Maximo® Archiving Adapter for InfoSphere™ Optim™ Data Growth Solution provides IBM Maximo Asset Management 7.5 users a way to archive, and optionally delete, historical data from their production system. You can delete archived data from the production database to optimize the performance of the database. Archiving data from the production database can also facilitate upgrading to a new version of Maximo Asset Management. Historical data is typically not critical to day-to-day operations and might not need to be included in the new system. The data that you archive is initially stored in an archive file on an InfoSphere Optim Data Growth Solution workstation or server. Version 7.3 of InfoSphere Optim Data Growth Solution is supported. You can view the contents of an archive file by using a browse feature that is provided in InfoSphere Optim Data Growth Solution. The archive file can also be written to external media for long-term storage and subsequent retrieval. You can restore archived data to a backup database, where it can be viewed using Maximo Asset Management applications and reports. The backup database is called a reporting database because the data in it is typically viewed, but not modified. Configuring the reporting database to provide read-only access to the data prevents the introduction of new data into the historical artifacts. The reporting database must have the same data structure and use the same data dictionary as the production database.
