IBM Cognos 8 Special Edition provides you with all of the components needed to create an enterprise reporting solution. This document provides instructions for installing and configuring IBM Cognos 8 with IBM WebSphere Application Server, IBM DB2 Universal Database, and IBM HTTP Server. IBM Cognos 8 Special Edition is supported on Windows, UNIX, and Linux platforms. IBM Cognos 8 Special Edition installs and configures the following products: IBM Cognos 8 Business Intelligence A Web-based business intelligence solution with integrated reporting, analysis, scorecarding, and event management features. IBM WebSphere Application Server, Express edition An application server for IBM Cognos 8 report server components (Application Tier Components) and Content Manager. IBM HTTP Server A Web server for the IBM Cognos 8 gateway. IBM DB2 Universal Database, Workgroup Server Edition A database that provides the content store for your IBM Cognos 8 reporting data. The Express Edition is used for Windows and Linux installations. The Workgroup Server Edition is used for UNIX installations. The installation requires the IBM Cognos 8 product installation CDs and the IBM Websphere and IBM DB2 product installation CDs that are provided with IBM Cognos 8 Special Edition. To install and configure IBM Cognos 8 Special Edition, you must run the IBM Cognos 8 installation wizard using command line options.
