Latchkey Children Calling Program
Database Systems Corp.
Database Systems Corp. (DSC) provides voice broadcasting dialing phone systems that are ideally suited for community service calling applications. One of these programs is called CARE ( Call Reassurance ). The CARE phone system is a telephone reassurance program that calls seniors or children left alone at home ( latchkey kids ) to ensure their well-being. CARE systems are generally installed and managed by sheriff's offices, police departments, or fire departments but can be managed by volunteer groups, school districts, or other community organizations. The latchkey children calling program calls students who arrive home from school before their parent(s) get home from work, ensuring they are OK. If the call is not answered, the parent or a community response center is notified. CARE systems are often selected by police and sheriff's organizations to replace their older DOS RUOK phone systems.-CARE systems also employ IVR technology from DSC to process caller responses. Latchkey Kids Service DSC also provides phone service directly to parents who wish to enroll their latchkey kids in this calling program.-An online registration form is provided. Latchkey Children Articles DSC has published several articles regarding latchkey children and the challenges presented to both communities and parents. Latchkey Children - Young children left home alone. Latchkey Kids Guidelines - A Guide For Working Parents And Kids Who Stay Home Alone Latchkey Kids State Legal Age Limits - A listing of state guidelines and laws relating to Latchkey Children.
