Intel Security Controller 2.0

ISC is a centralized platform to enable software-defined security in software-defined data centers. It provides VNF (Virtualization network Function) services such as next-generation IPS (Intrusion Prevention System) and Firewall to virtual infrastructures.

ISC automates the Deployment, Configuration, Management and Policy Synchronization of SVNFs (Security Virtualization Network Functions) such as IPS (Intrusion Prevention System), NGFW (Next-generation Firewall) in a software-defined infrastructure (SDI). It achieves this by working with the virtualization platforms and SDN (Software Defined network) controller.

Based on the platform and user configuration, ISC can deploy multiple instances of SVNF within the datacenter. Once the SVNF are deployed within the datacenter, ISC helps the security function managers to discover the new devices and makes sure the policy information is propagated to all the new devices.
ISC then instructs the SDN controller to redirect network traffic between the endpoints needed to be secured to be first inspected by the SVNF.

Most current systems can only inspect North-South traffic. ISC can inspect east-west traffic also.
