Microlite BackupEDGE 03.01.01

Microlite BackupEDGE™ provides secure backup, restore and bare metal disaster recovery using virtually any storage medium.

Supported media types / resources include:

  • tape (including libraries / changers).
  • optical media, including Blu-ray Disc™, DVD and CD.
  • removable disk, cartridge and flash drives using our SharpDrive™ Technology.
  • network attached storage (NAS).
  • cloud backup to multiple cloud storage vendors using the S3 API.

Bare metal disaster recovery mode is possible by booting into our into our RecoverEDGE™ disaster recovery component and restoring archives from any of the above backups types. Booting to disaster recovery mode can be from:

  • optical media.
  • removable disk, cartridge, and flash.
  • bootable (OBDR) tape.
  • PXE (network booting).

BackupEDGE and RecoverEDGE also include Linux to VMware Physical to Virtual (P2V) capabilities.

The advanced BackupEDGE data format is based on the pax standard as defined in IEEE 1003.1-2001 by The Open Group and the IEEE. This format is designed to be extensible, and to handle the needs of modern medium operating systems and medium types, we've added...

  • full file checksumming for security, especially when using non-tape media.
  • access control lists (ACLs).
  • unlimited pathnames (well, 5,000 characters).
  • nine selectable (9) levels of file-level compression
  • optional encryption.

The encryption option uses a combination of AES 256bit encrytion and RSA 2048bit encryption for maximum security.

An advanced scheduler allows an unlimited number of definable backup jobs to be created and scheduled, and includes MariaDB / MySQL™ hot backup support.

BackupEDGE can be managed from a traditional curses-based character interface, a Java graphical interface, or from any Java-enabled web browser.
