The Cisco Nexus® family of switches has been a staple in data centers since its introduction in 2008. The Cisco Nexus 9K Driver for OpenStack Neutron ML2 allows customers to easily build their infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) networks using the industry’s leading networking platform, delivering performance, scalability, and stability with the familiar manageability and control you expect from Cisco® technology.
The Cisco Nexus 9K Mechanism Driver for OpenStack Neutron ML2 provides operational simplicity by enabling configuration of physical Nexus 9K switches across multiple hosts. The driver provides features and flexibility for network connectivity of OpenStack clusters including automated VLAN provisioning and multi-homed host deployments. Features supported are as follows:

1. Configuration replay is performed by the driver upon loss of network connectivity with Nexus 9K Switch.
2. Neutron trunk ports are supported where the driver can configure the Segmentation IDs for trunk parent port and sub-ports.
3. Configuration options are available for provider networks.
4. Baremetal nodes are supported and with the option to create port-channels automatically.
