Extreme Networks® joins the OpenStack community in its efforts to deliver a massively scalable cloud operating system. This goal complements the vision Extreme Networks has for delivering high-performance, automated Ethernet solutions that can be deployed in an open data center architecture and tightly integrated with best-of-breed, cloud-based solutions in private, public or hybrid environments.

Networking will play an important role in the enablement of open source, cloud service architectures. As a member of the OpenStack community, Extreme Networks will leverage its ExtremeXOS® single modular operating system that runs across the data center product portfolio and its flexible automation and customization capabilities based on its dynamic scripting and XML interface. These open standards-based technologies allow for easy integration into higher level cloud-based management and provisioning platforms.

Extreme Networks has a robust product portfolio, including Summit® stackable switches and BlackDiamond® chassis-based switches, which provide a highly scalable platform designed specifically for virtualized and cloud-based environments, whether enterprise or service provider.
