卷组元数据包含：
- 何时以及如何创建该卷组的信息
- 卷组信息：
卷组信息包括：
- 名称和唯一 id
- 更新元数据时增大的版本数
- 任意属性：读/写？重新定义大小？
- 它可能包含的所有对物理卷和逻辑卷数量的管理限制
- 扩展大小（以扇区为单位，大小为 512 字节）
- 一个未排序物理卷列表组成的卷组，每个都附带：
- 它的 UUID，用来决定包含它的块设备
- 所有属性，比如物理卷是否可分配
- 物理卷中第一个扩展的偏移（在扇区中）
- 扩展的数目
- 未排序的逻辑卷列表，每个逻辑卷都包含
- 排序的逻辑卷片段列表。每个片段的元数据都包括用于排序的物理卷片段或者逻辑卷片段的映射
