1.5. Creating infrastructure machines
If you need infrastructure machines to have dedicated configurations, then you must create an infra pool.
Procedure
Create a machine config pool that contains both the worker role and your custom role as machine config selector:
$ cat infra.mcp.yaml
Example output
apiVersion: machineconfiguration.openshift.io/v1 kind: MachineConfigPool metadata: name: infra spec: machineConfigSelector: matchExpressions: - {key: machineconfiguration.openshift.io/role, operator: In, values: [worker,infra]} nodeSelector: matchLabels: node-role.kubernetes.io/infra: ""After you have the YAML file, you can create the machine config pool:
$ oc create -f infra.mcp.yaml
Check the machine configs to ensure that the infrastructure configuration rendered successfully:
$ oc get machineconfig
Example output

Optional: To deploy changes to a custom pool, create a machine config that uses the custom pool name as the label, such as
infra. Note that this is not required and only shown for instructional purposes. In this manner, you can apply any custom configurations specific to only your infra nodes.$ cat infra.mc.yaml
Example output
apiVersion: machineconfiguration.openshift.io/v1 kind: MachineConfig metadata: labels: machineconfiguration.openshift.io/role: infra name: 51-infra spec: config: ignition: version: 2.2.0 storage: files: - contents: source: data:,infra filesystem: root mode: 0644 path: /etc/infratestApply the machine config, then verify that the infra-labeled nodes are updated with the configuration file:
$ oc create -f infra.mc.yaml
