4.2. Red Hat Virtualization 4.2 Batch Update 1 (ovirt-4.2.4)

4.2.1. Enhancements

This release of Red Hat Virtualization features the following enhancements:

BZ#1366900

This release includes a new utility called ovirt-engine-hyper-upgrade. It can be used to guide the user through upgrading 4.0 or later systems.

BZ#1484532

Starting from version 4.0, Red Hat Virtualization Hosts could not be deployed from Satellite, and therefore could not take advantage of Satellite's tooling features.

In this release, Red Hat Virtualization Hosts can now be deployed from Satellite 6.3.2 and later.

BZ#1511823

When you add an external network provider, a check box allows you to automatically synchronize your cluster networks with the networks imported from the default network provider. The networks are immediately available for the virtual machines.

BZ#1579210

The cockpit-machines-ovirt plugin (https://cockpit-project.org/guide/latest/feature-ovirtvirtualmachines) has been added to Red Hat Enterprise Linux hosts and Red Hat Virtualization Hosts.

BZ#1585022

This release adds a new 'ssl_ciphers' option to VDSM, which allows you to configure available ciphers for encrypted connections (for example, the Manager to VDSM, or VDSM to VDSM). The values of this option conform to OpenSSL standard.
To set this option:

1. Move the host to Maintenance in the Manager.

2. Create a new /etc/vdsm/vdsm.conf.d/99-custom-ciphers.conf file with the following content:

[vars]
ssl_ciphers = <VALUE>

where <VALUE> is one of the values described in the CIPHERS STRINGD section in https://www.openssl.org/docs/man1.0.2/apps/ciphers.html.

3. Restart VDSM.

4. Activate the host in the Manager.
