2.5. Image Service

The following section briefly describes the new features included in the Image service for Red Hat OpenStack Platform 8.

Image Signing and Encryption

This feature provides support for image signatures and signature verification, allowing the user to verify that an image has not been modified prior to booting the image.

Artifacts Repository (experimental API)

This feature extends Image service functionality to store not only the virtual machine images but any other artifacts, such as, binary objects accompanied with composite metadata.

Image service becomes a catalog of such artifacts, providing capabilities to store, search and retrieve artifacts, their metadata and associated binary objects.
