Abstract

JBoss Developer Studio's JBoss Central makes it easy to install and update the Red Hat JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse. You can also use the standard Eclipse software installation and update mechanisms.

Chapter 1. Installation Requirements

Abstract

Before attempting to install and use Red Hat JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse, make sure your system meets the minimum requirements.

Supported platforms

Red Hat tests and supports Fuse products on the platforms listed in the JBoss Developer Studio Getting Started Guide.

Chapter 2. Installing Red Hat JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse

Abstract

You install and run the Red Hat JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse in JBoss Developer Studio 6.0. You can install the plugins using either the Software/Update tab at the bottom of JBoss Central or the Eclipse update mechanism HelpInstall New Software... from the menu bar.

2.1. Prerequisites

If you haven't already done so, you need to:
  • Download and install JBoss Developer Studio 6.0.
    Follow the instructions in the JBoss Developer Studio 6.0 Getting Started Guide.
    Important
    Do not install either JBoss Developer Studio or the Java runtime you plan to use in a directory path that contains white space; for example, C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.7\.... Doing so can result in unpredictable errors in Red Hat JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse at run time.
  • Start up JBoss Developer Studio 6.0.
Important
If you want to deploy your applications to JBoss Fuse, you must use jboss-fuse-6.0.0.redhat-xxx. For installation instructions, see the Red Hat JBoss Fuse: Installation Guide Version 6.0.

2.2. Installing the Red Hat JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse via Eclipse

Abstract

You can use the standard Eclipse method for installing software to install the Red Hat JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse.
You access the Eclipse update mechanism from the menu bar.
  1. Click HelpInstall New Software ... to open the Install wizard.
  2. Click the Add button next to the Work with: field to open the Add Repository window.
  3. In Name:, enter a name for the repository; for example, RedHat_Fuse.
  4. In Location: enter http://repo.fusesource.com/beta/7.2.x.jbds6/
    The name and location you entered are combined and displayed in the Work with: field in the Available Software window:

  5. In the list of available sites, select Red Hat JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse 6.0, and then click Next.
    Wait while the installer checks on dependencies and hardware requirements.
  6. In the Install Details window, review the items to be installed (Red Hat JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse 6.0), and then click Next.
  7. Accept the terms of the license agreement, and then click Finish.
  8. If a Security Warning regarding unsigned content appears, disregard it and click OK.
  9. When prompted to restart JBoss Developer Studio, click Yes.
    When JBoss Developer Studio restarts, the new version of Red Hat JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse will be available.

Chapter 3. Upgrading Red Hat JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse

Abstract

You can upgrade your Red Hat JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse via either JBoss Central or Eclipse's standard upgrade mechanism.

3.1. Upgrading Red Hat JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse via Eclipse

Abstract

You can use the Eclipse standard upgrade mechanism to upgrade the JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse, regardless of how you installed it.

Prerequisites

The JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse repository,http://repo.fusesource.com/beta/7.2.x.jbds6/, must be enabled in the Eclipse list of available software sites ( JBoss Developer StudioPreferencesInstall/UpdateAvailable Software Sites).

Procedure

To update to a new version to the JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse:
  1. Select HelpCheck for Updates to open the Available Updates dialog.
    When software updates are available, a dialog similar to Figure 3.1 opens.

  2. Select Red Hat JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse 6.0.
  3. Click Next> to open the Update Details page.
    Check that Red Hat JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse 6.0 is listed.
    If it's not, return to the Available Updates dialog, and enter the correct location of the site.
  4. Click Next> to open the Review Licenses page.
  5. Accept the terms of the license agreement.
  6. Click Finish to install the update.
  7. If a Security Warning regarding unsigned content appears, disregard it and click OK.
  8. When prompted to restart JBoss Developer Studio, click Yes.
    When JBoss Developer Studio restarts, the new version of Red Hat JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse will be available.

Chapter 4. Uninstalling Red Hat JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse

Abstract

Red Hat JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse is easy to uninstall. Just use the Eclipse uninstall mechanism accessed through the JBoss Developer Studio menu on the menu bar.
Important
Uninstalling Red Hat JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse does not remove your Fuse projects. To remove your Fuse projects, you have to delete them. If you set up your Fuse projects to use a unique workspace folder, you can simply delete that folder. Otherwise, you need to delete each project individually.
To uninstall Red Hat JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse:
  1. On the menu bar, click JBoss Developer StudioAboutInstallation DetailsInstalled Software
  2. On the Installed Software tab, select Red Hat JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse, and then click Uninstall.
  3. On the Uninstall window, click Finish to remove Red Hat JBoss Fuse Plugins for Eclipse.
  4. When prompted, click Yes to restart JBoss Developer Studio.
