9.6. Number of Clients
Red Hat Storage is designed to support environments with large numbers of clients. As the I/O of individual clients is often limited, system throughput is generally greater if the number of clients than servers.
If the number of clients is greater than 100, you must switch to the
rhs-virtualization tuned profile, which increases ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) table size, but has less aggressive read ahead setting of 4 MB. This is 32 times the Linux default but small enough to avoid fairness issues with large numbers of files being concurrently read.
To switch to Red Hat Storage virtualization tuned profile, run the following command:
# tuned-adm profile rhs-virtualization
