Red Hat Training

A Red Hat training course is available for Red Hat Gluster Storage

Chapter 2. What's New in this Release?

This chapter describes the key features added to Red Hat Storage 3.0 update 3.
  • User Serviceable Snapshot
The User Serviceability Snapshot feature is out of technology preview and is fully supported. You can now view and retrieve snapshots using the CIFS protocol for Windows clients. A new volume set option features.show-snapshot-directory is added to make the .snaps directory explicitly visible at the root of the share.
  • gstatus Command
The gstatus command provides an easy-to-use, high-level view of the health of a trusted storage pool with a single command. It gathers information by executing the GlusterFS commands, to gather information about the statuses of the Red Hat Storage nodes, volumes, and bricks. The gstatus command is a Technology Preview feature.
  • Remote Direct Memory Access
Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) support for communication between GlusterFS bricks and clients is out of technology preview and is officially supported. It fixes bugs and provides options to configure RDMA support for the new and existing volumes.
  • Red Hat Storage Object Store
Object Store has been rebased to Red Hat OpenStack Icehouse.
The Object Expiration feature is now supported in Object Storage. This feature allows you to schedule deletion of objects that are stored in the Red Hat Storage volume. For example, you might upload logs periodically to the volume, and retain those logs for only a specific amount of time. You can use the Object expiration feature to specify a lifetime for objects in the volume. When the lifetime of an object expires, it automatically stops serving that object at the specified time and shortly thereafter removes the object from the Red Hat Storage volume.
  • Enhancements in Red Hat Storage Console
    • Update to the Trends Tab
A new link, Glusterfs Monitoring Home, is added to the Trends tab of Red Hat Storage Console.
    • Enabling and Disabling Monitoring
A new command is introduced to enable and disable monitoring using the command line interface (CLI) after setting up Red Hat Storage Console. When monitoring is enabled on the server, the Trends tab is displayed with host and cluster utilization details.
    • Displaying thin pool utilization
An enhancement is added to the Trends tab to display both the logical volume utilization and the physical thin pool utilization for bricks.
