The cpuspeed packages provide a daemon to manage the CPU frequency scaling.
- When the frequency scaling is enabled, a kernel panic can occur on a HMV (Hardware Virtual Machine) guest, and the following message is logged:
Kernel panic - not syncing: IO-APIC + timer doesn't work!
To work around this problem, change the default CPU governor to performance in the/etc/sysconfig/cpuspeedfile as follows:GOVERNOR=performance.
