4.2.4. Clone a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Virtual Machine from a Template

Procedure 4.6. Cloning a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Virtual Machine from a Template

  1. Navigate to the Tree pane and click Expand All.
  2. Click the VMs icon under the cluster containing the template from which the new virtual machine will be cloned.
  3. On the Virtual Machines tab, click New VM.
    The New Virtual Machine window displays.

    1. On the General tab, select the template from which the new virtual machine will be cloned from the Based on Template drop-down list.
    2. Enter a suitable Name and Description, and then accept the default values inherited from the template in the rest of the fields. You can change these values if needed.
    3. On the Resource Allocation tab, select either the Thin option or the Clone option in the Storage Allocation section to specify how storage for the new virtual machine will be allocated.
  4. Retain all other default settings and click OK to create the virtual machine.
