2.12. Reduce TCP performance spikes

In order to reduce a performance spike with relation to timestamps generation, change the values of the TCP related entries with the sysctl command.
  1. Change the value of net.ipv4.neigh.default.unres_qlen from 3 to 100, by echoing the new value:
    # echo 100 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/neigh/default/unres_qlen

  2. Make the same change for net.ipv4.neigh.eth0.unres_qlen:
    # echo 100 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/neigh/eth0/unres_qlen

  3. To make the changes persistent, edit the /etc/sysctl.conf file.
