Frühere Versionen von Red Hat Enterprise Linux verwendeten tgtd zur Unterstützung von iSCSI-Zielen und LIO, das Linux-Kernelziel, nur für Fibre-Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) Ziele mittels dem fcoe-target-utils Paket.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 verwendet nun das LIO-Kernelziel-Untersystem für FCoE, iSCSI, iSER (Mellanox InfiniBand) und SRP (Mellanox InfiniBand) Storage Fabrics. Alle Fabrics können mithilfe des targetcli Tools verwaltet werden.
