Unable to find a suitable host

Latest response

Hello,

When we try to provision (Infrastructure - Virtual Machines - Lifecycle - Provision VMs) a VM from CloudForms,
and in the process we are using the "Automatically select" resources option we are getting the following error:

[MiqException::MiqProvisionError]: Unable to find a suitable host

But when we don't use the "Automatically select" resources option, if we select manually the hosts and datastores, the provisioning is working.

The tagging is OK I think, when I log on with my user I can see the Provider (VMware vCenter) and the hosts (VMware ESXi 5.5) and the storage.

Any ideas?
If you need more information, please ask!

Thank you.

We're in the same ... We can't provisioning by the webservice because the placement_auto parameter is in true, even if we put it in false parameter in the ws doesn't work ...

hitting the same problem here. Have you been able to resolve this issue?

Looks like a few folks are encountering this issue. I'll see if I can track down an expert to provide some answers here.

Thanks David :)

I have another customer hitting the same issue as well.

From what I know, if using the "Choose Automatically" feature within the provisioning mechanism; the best placement by provisioning scope automation requires that your provisioning scope tag exactly mirrors the users group. For example, if the users group is "Acme-Corporation" you will have to create a provisioning scope tag of "acme_corporation" (tag name requirement) and tag the infrastructure that will participate in the best placement. You then have to change the users group to "acme_corporation".

This obviously means that your using authentication services (like AD); you'll have to make the changes there too.

Otherwise, tag everything with provisioning scope "all"
