Installing RHEL-8 over Windows 11 - /dev/root does not exist

Posted on

I have to install RHEL-8.10 on an MSI TITAN 18 HG box - a fully loaded gaming laptop. The MSI box requires FAT32 and UEFI mode for booting. I am getting the MSI box to recognize and boot from my USB drive. It would not recognize the RHEL-8.10 .iso file, but it does boot if I have these 3 folders installed on my USB drive: EFI, images and isolinux.

I am seeing this error:
nouveau unknown chipset 192000a1.

I found this possible solution here:
https://gist.github.com/kitten/27c83795028ffdd478f0
"Add nomodeset nouveau.modeset=0 to the kernel options to fix it."

I am receiving the above error while booting. The PC still has Windows on it. My question is. "How do I apply the suggested solution". I am not sure how to modify the kernel options while booting.

Thank you,
