SSSD and Autofs race condition on boot happens on RHEL 9 fresh install but not RHEL 9 upgraded from 8.

As the title states I am experiencing the SSSD/Autofs race condition bug. The bug happens on A fresh install of RHEL 9 but not on a nearly identical RHEL 9 system that was upgraded from RHEL 8.8. I've tried to add "ExecStartPre=/bin/sleep 10" to the sssd config as mentioned in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1189767, which did not work. While experimenting I was able to get home directories to automount somehow by adding the sleep to the autofs config but that only worked once so maybe a fluke. Does anyone have any clue why the issue only exists on the new box?
