  • round robin DNS doesn't work with ping

    Posted on

I am on RHEL 8.7 and I notice the pinging a host (with multiple A records) always resolves it to one ip (lowest based on sort order of the ips returned).

describes exactly what I am seeing, however it also says that this is an issue only for 5/6/7 - so I assume it is fixed in 8. Also evidenced by https://statics.teams.cdn.office.net/evergreen-assets/safelinks/1/atp-safelinks.html

But on an RHEL 8.7 system I have - I see the same old behavior.

    any help/guidance appreciated
