install security update

Hello,

I am sorry for my english.

I want to install the new security updates on my 7.4 system, but the 7.4 version is no longer supported so there is no update.
my question, can I change the release variable from 7.4 to 7.9
( subscription-manager release --set=7.9) then I run the command yum update-minimal --security to install only security updates on my 7.4 system without updating it to 7.9 ?
is this normal or is it not recommended or is it a big mistake ?
