please make the Virt-P2V.iso available on the RHEL Desktop Channel. It is now only available on the Server Channel.

Hi Daniel,

Can you explain what you are trying to do exactly?

Are you trying to virtualize your bare metal Desktop implementation into an image for use as a guest on a RHEL Server?

Thanks!

Hi Andrius,

I am trying to convert a physical WinXP machine to a virtual machine and run it on my RHEL 6 Desktop Client using KVM.

I do not have a server subscription so it will be beneficial if the P2V client iso image can be added to the Desktop channel.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the additional clarification. I'm checking with a few people on this and should have something for you in the next few days.

Thanks!

Daniel,

The actual virt-p2v package is part of the Optional repository. Do you know how to enable the Optional repo using yum?

If not, take a look at the following page:

https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Subscription_Management/1.0/html/Subscription_Management_Guide/entitlements-and-yum.html

Which would mean issuing the following commands:

# yum-config-manager --enable rhel-6-desktop-optional-rpms

# yum install virt-p2v

As for the Workstation ISO, you should be able to grab this from the following page:

https://rhn.redhat.com/rhn/software/channel/downloads/Download.do?cid=10550

With full documentation listed here:

Hi Andrius,

thanks. I was able to locate the Workstation ISO at the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Client (v. 6 for 64-bit x86_64) channel.
