How to set up JON with MySQL

Latest response

Hi,

We'd like to use MySQL instead of Postgresql/Oracle for the JON database back-end. I know this isn't supported and not directly possible through the regular JON installation procedure.

Which actions should I take to get JON to use MySQL as a back-end DB?

Thanks,

Jan.

Hi Jan,

Afraid that is not possible.  It's not about supporting or installing, but there is a technical reason. JON uses some SQL which is incompatible with MySQL (certain subqueries and sequences)

Kind regards

Tom

Thanks Tom,

That saves me a lot of time. Couldn't find how to do this anywhere.

Do you happen to know if this going to be implemented at some point? It would be great if one could choose the database backend. Even if it is only to reduce the number of different technologies used in one environment.

Best regards,

Jan.

Hi Jan,

I've seen internal discussions on MySQL (or others) before and there are no plans as the future might be a "nosql" database instead. But that last bit is pure speculation for now.

Kind regards

Tom
