Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0 Server x86_64 on CD?
I'm looking to download RHEL 6.0 Server x86_64 Binary Disc CD ISOs, but all I can find is a Binary DVD ISO.
Is RHEL 6.0 available for CDs? If not, when will it be?
thanks,
-Bill

Hi Bill,
Red Hat Enterprise Linux is no longer shipped as multiple CD-ISOs, but rather only comes as a single DVD-ISO. If the reason you need the CD image instead of DVD is because your system cannot read DVDs, there are a few alternative options:
- Download the Binary DVD ISO and the Network Install and Recovery Disc ISO. On a separate server from the one you are installing, mount the Binary DVD ISO and make the contents available via HTTP, NFS, or FTP. Now burn the Network Install and Recovery Disc ISO to a CD or write it to a usb stick, and boot the system you are installing from that. After answering a few questions, you will be given the option to enter in the location of your install media, at which point you can direct it to the HTTP, NFS, or FTP server and directory
- Download the Binary DVD iso, and as in the previous option, make it accessible via HTTP, NFS, or FTP. Set up a tftp server, and make the vmlinuz and initrd.img from the images/pxeboot/ directory on the DVD available via tftp. Point your dhcp's next-server option to that image for the system you are installing, and pxe boot the system.
These are just a few ideas. If you are not able to use either of these methods, or if you have any questions on how to use them, just let us know and we can try to help you come up with a solution that works.

Hi Andrius Benokraitis,
Thanks for the suggestions.
I have updated the article (https://access.redhat.com/kb/docs/DOC-1199) to reflect the changes with RHEL6 ISOs. I have also wrote a kbase article which mention the alternative install options for such environments.
How to install Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 on servers with CD drive, but no DVD drive?
