License question, I think...

Latest response

I recently purchase a one-year subscription to RHEL Workstation. There are some details which I'd like to understand and don't know where to look for the answers.

  1. I have a desktop and a laptop. Does my subscription allow me to install RHEL on both?
  2. What happens if I need to reinstall for any reason?

I guess the question is, how do I manage the right to recieve updates during the subscription period.

Thanks in advance for any help to clear this up.

Best,

Alex

Hi Alex, two bare-metal systems would require two subscriptions. You only have ability to update one machine with a single subscription, unless you have a subscription with virtual instances included. Re-installing shouldn't be an issue. Hope this helps!

Andrius.

Thank you.

Anything I can read regarding the cost and application of these virtual instances?

Alex, give the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Desktop Datasheet a look, and if you have any other questions our Sales teams would love to talk to you. :-)

Andrius,

I know this discussion is almost two years old but, am I not allowed to install a subscription on a Production server and on a Development server for said production server?

Each individual hardware system requires an entitlement.

You might choose differently-priced entitlements though, for example purchase Premium to get 24x7 assistance on critical production issues, but Standard for assistance on the Development server during business hours only.
