Thanks, Christian, for this notice!

You're welcome, Akemi ! :)

Good stuff :-)

True Zdenek, I think this will gonna be the best RHEL edition ever. :)

Official Red Hat blog post from today (November 3rd, 2021) -> What's new in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 Beta

Thanks for the info Christian!

Gladly Jan, you're welcome ! :)

I can install it, but it jumps into emergency mode on the first boot after the installation. I am installing workstation with dev tools in VirtualBox. Interestingly I have the exact same issue with CentOS Stram 9.

No problems with 7/8/Fedora 34/35/Rawhide 36.

Before I embark on a massive effort to work out why, is anyone aware of a known issue and work around?

Hi Ian,

I didn't experience any problems - but I am using KVM ... ORACLE VirtualBox is known to generate issues. :)

Christian

There have been some new updates released for RHEL 9.0 Beta and it looks like there are some new ISOs available too.

Though secure boot stopped working when I updated to it.

Whatever they changed, they fixed it for me, it now works out of the box, as does CentOS Stream 9.

For some reason my RHEL 9 beta won't get a beta subscription and won't appear in the list of my systems.

Is this how 9-beta should behave? Back-in-the-days 8-beta registered and attached ok.

It should be the same as 8-beta. I have a 9-beta which is attached to the Red Hat Beta Access subscription.

Mine attached OK also, and is visible in my systems list.

Thanks for the info. Something's off. I cannot get my 9-beta to attach.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.0 Beta Update 2 has now been released according to the names on the ISO downloads that are now available.

Hi Michael,

You mean Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.0 Beta Update 1, I assume ? :)
By the way, it is possible to upgrade an existing installation this time.

Regards,
Christian

I am seeing Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.0 Beta Update 2 on that download link (Last modified: 2022-01-11) for the 4th to 6th Download.

Hi Michael,

That's a thing - now that I have refreshed the website, I can see it too ... strange. Thanks for the information ! :)

Christian

Hi Michael,

Just for your information : I fired up my RHEL 9 Beta VM - and again I was able to upgrade the Beta system. :)

Regards,
Christian

RHEL 9 beta is indeed updating, I never thought I would see the day!

No need to download and do a fresh install from the 2nd update ISO if you already have a working system, you can update to that state from an earlier ISO (at least updates are working now from the first update ISO, don't know about the original ISO).

Hi Ian,

I can confirm it worked from the original Beta to Update 1 as well. :)

Christian

any idea if lsb_release command available in any of packages, not able to locate redhat-lsb-core which used to be there in older versions.

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?format=multiple&id=2012924 looks its not available in rhel 9 beta.
