Executing Thunderbird from an icon on application Pane
I'm running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4 on an Lenovo Laptop with an i7 processor, 128GB of memory six/6 TB of SSD.
I'm trying to place an icon for Thunderbird Mail Client on the application pane to be executed by simply clicking on the icon. I've created the desktop file and placed in the following path: /usr/share/applications/thunderbird.desktop.
Below is a copy of my desktop file:
[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=Thunderbird Mail
Comment=Thunderbird Mail Client
GenericName=Mail
Exec=/opt/thunderbird %d
Icon=/opt/thunderbird/icons/thunderbird-icon.png
Terminal=false
Categories=Tags;mail;text
When I view the application pane I'm shown all of the available applications except for Thunderbird. What I'm I doing wrong or what in the file is preventing the Thunderbird icon and application from being shown and executed?
Thanks
