CRC starts fails with "open \\.\pipe\crc-admin-helper: Access is denied."

Latest response

I'm trying to bring Code Ready Containers up on my Windows 10 workstation and keep running in to problems.

When I run the "crc start" command, CRC appears to start, but I get the following message:
INFO Updating authorized keys...
Error running post start: Post "http://unix/remove": open \.\pipe\crc-admin-helper: Access is denied.

I've searched but not found anything yet. Hoping somebody here might know what this is.

My workstation has 64Gb of ram, the drive has 300Gb of free space, there are 12 cores so it meets all of the requirements. All of the latest patches. Running Windows 10 Pro.

I'm sure I've missed something really obvious.

[UPDATE]
I also get this error:
Is CodeReady Containers tray application running? Cannot reach daemon API: Get "http://unix/api/version": open \.\pipe\crc-http: Access is denied.

When I start the CRC desktop app it crashes.
