vi no longer launches

I've been using vi as my text editor and this morning when I try to launch vi it launches vim instead.
The only thing I recall doing yesterday is that I launched vim once to look at it.
Apparently that pulled a MS and decided now I should always use vim.
How do I get back to being able to use vi?
this is what I see in /usr/bin
vi
view -> vi
vim
vimdiff -> vim

I don't see a vi -> vim soft link anywhere.
