yum install gdisk failed

Latest response

I tried to install gdisk and it failed:
[root@saphost01 ~] # yum install gdisk

Docker CE Stable - x86_64 568 B/s | 381 B 00:00

The file https://download.docker.com/linux/rhel/8/x86_64/stable/repodata/repomd.xml apparently doesn't exist, the folder structure looks different.

Hi Peter,

The URL (x86_64) doesn't exist for RHEL ... either remove the docker repo, or select the docker repo for CentOS alternatively.

https://download.docker.com/linux/rhel/8/
https://download.docker.com/linux/centos/8/

What about moving to buildah/podman/skopeo anyway ? :)

Christian

Hi Christian,

I'm a RHEL/yum/docker beginner ... The question is, how can I force yum to use the other folder and/or buildah/podman/skopeo? Obviously yum uses those under the hood ... Thx

Hi Peter,

First delete the docker repo from the /etc/yum.repos.d directory. :)
Then remove docker, and install the RHEL Container Tools module.

sudo dnf upgrade
sudo dnf remove docker*
sudo dnf module install container-tools:rhel8

Christian

that worked perfectly,

gdisk

GPT fdisk (gdisk) version 1.0.3

Great Peter ! Glad we could help you. :)

Christian
